Winter Holidays in Tyrol
Sleigh
rides weren't always an enjoyable part of a winter vacation. In days gone by,
many mountain routes and snowed-in tracks were only passable by means of horses
and wooden sleighs.
A horsedrawn sleigh ride these days is however a journey into snow-covered countryside - add to that the attractions of a moonlit sleigh ride at the Schollenwiesenlift in Höfen, and you'll see that there's plenty to do in the winter wonderland of the Ausserfern!
The even hills of the region around the Allgäuer lakes and the wooded mountainsides of the Tyrol are an ideal walking terrain. A well-marked winter trail network invites days of discovery on the cleared paths.
Tour Suggestion: Hinterbichl - Unterletzen
from Hinterbichl to Holz via Winkel, then to the Reutte mountain lifts, back
via the toboggan run and onwards to Unterletzen - Oberletzen with return
to Reutte. (ca. 1½ to 2 hours) 5,5km high walking path.
And anyone that hasn't tried it should really give snowshoe walking a go! Trappers, prospectors, goldminers and Indians all used snowshoes on their way though the snow-covered woods - why not follow in their footsteps to adventure?

Every Tuesday the Holiday Region Reutte organises a 3-4 hour walk through the snow - an experience where a certain degree of fitness is necessary!
